Abortions are not legal in Alabama unless deemed necessary to prevent serious health risks to the woman, or if a lethal anomaly is found in the fetus. There are not exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

Will I get arrested if I have an abortion?
A:
No, but the abortionist would be charged with a class A felony. All abortion centers in Alabama were ordered to cease operations and have closed their doors.

Can I order the abortion pill by mail through telehealth?
A:
No, providing abortion through telehealth services is also illegal. Even providers in other states where abortion is legal will not ship the medication out of state to a location where it is illegal.

Is Plan B illegal?
A:
No. Plan B is not the abortion pill, though it can cause pregnancy loss if the embryo has already implanted in the uterus at the time it’s administered. Â
